Holler vs Citizen

Citizen and Holler are very different tools. Citizen shows you real-time incidents happening around you. Holler does one thing: it turns your phone into a deterrent and alerts someone you trust the moment something happens to you.

What Citizen is good at

Citizen is a US app built around real-time incident alerts and a live safety map, with a paid Protect tier that connects you to a live agent. If you want to know what is happening around you in a US city in real time, that is what it is for. Holler deliberately does not build a crime feed. Constant incident alerts can raise anxiety more than they reduce risk, so Holler stays focused on the moment you need help, and it is built for the EU and UK as well as the US.

When to stay with Citizen

If you are in a US city and you specifically want real-time awareness of incidents happening nearby, Citizen is built for that and Holler is not. They can sit side by side: Citizen for situational awareness, Holler for the moment something happens to you.

Citizen questions

Does Holler show me nearby crime?

No, by design. Holler is not a crime feed. It focuses on the moment you need help, not on a stream of incident alerts, which can raise anxiety more than they reduce risk.

Does Holler work outside the US?

Yes. Holler is built for the EU and UK as well as the US, and shows the correct local emergency number for where you are.

Does Holler connect me to a live agent?

Not at launch. Holler alerts a trusted contact you choose and gives you a one-tap button to call your local emergency number. Professional monitoring is a possible future option, not a launch feature.

A deterrent, built to fire every time.

Holler is not a substitute for emergency services

If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number directly: 112 across Europe, 999 in the UK, 911 in the US. Holler alerts a contact you choose and helps you raise the alarm, but it does not call the emergency services for you, and it may not work in all circumstances.
